5 BOYZ

I started 5Boyz in Hartford in 2015. Kinda finished summer 2022.

Each shirt is chosen for the color, but also it's personal significance to me. They are all uniform at first glance, but each have their own story woven around athletics, community, and fatherhood.

Athletics changed my life. I never made a dime playing, but the memories, friendships, and lessons have been invaluable. As someone who coaches middle schoolers now, and helped to start an athletic program at my former school, I recognize now more than ever the importance of adults taking time out of their lives to provide opportunities for kids. It's essential. It's life changing.

Although you may just see clothes and a door; these are 5 examples of how my identity has been constructed through service, through athletics, through family, friends, and Philly. The message of this work is simple; we are more than what you see; stop taking away our sons, our dad's, our partners, and stop destroying communities and build them up.
