ABOUT BYRD

Name: Jason BYrd

Born: 1991

Origins: Philadelphia, PA

Currently: Philadelphia, PA

Jason BYrd, 32, is an artist and teacher based in northwest Philadelphia. He explores themes such as the black family, the education gap, consumerism and capitalism, and dualities such as perspective and permanence, and innocence and ignorance. Using a variety of developed styles and processes, he aims to synthesize ideas surrounding family dynamics and personal history, with world history and Art history. Constantly drawing from the world around him, many of his works and series incorporate the idea of repurposing and realizing multiple interpretations or perspectives in every inch of life.

At its heart his process is an ongoing investigation of the human condition, from where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going?
